Three points sealed at the ring

Welly 3-2 Denbigh

Fight, desire, grit, determination; quality.

A fantastic performance and result on Saturday against a well drilled and good Denbigh side. After having a brief spell there in the summer, I had a small idea of their personnel and tried to eliminate their perceived strengths. We knew that they are a small side and the objective for us was to bully them on set pieces, which we did get success from.

We started really brightly, scoring early from a great cross from Collo for Sammy to tap home. We could and should have doubled the lead through some great play from Bisensio going round the keeper and fouled for a penalty. Unfortunately Collos penalty was saved, I feel if we had made it 2-0, it would have been a more comfortable game. Within a quick spell, we were 2-1 down, which I was not happy about, we needed to put the penalty past us but I felt heads went down and we lost concentration.

We tweaked a couple of things at half time and the second half the players were brilliant. A great team goal for the equaliser, run from Bi, pass from Mitch, cross from Ruben and header from Collo. The number 9 performance from Jon Collo Saturday was one of the best centre forward performances since I've been in Wales, absolutely brilliant. He ran through for the winner and was hacked down and Harvey stepped up to slam home.

We managed the second half really well but the last 10 minutes was as nervy as it comes, not great for the ticker. We sat in and played on the break and could, and should have made it 4 barring a great defensive challenge from the Denbigh man. A brilliant result and a springboard to kick on now. Big shout out to Henry Green, for 18 years old as a keeper, he was fantastic and has found it difficult at times since he's come in but that will do him the world of good, he's a top top keeper and has a big career ahead of him. It would have been tough to pick a MOTM because from 1-18 the lads were fantastic.

Midfielder Harvey Ellis - Beating Denbigh is a big statement from us and gives us a lot of confidence going into the second half of the season. We showed two sides to our game in the fact that we have quality going forward and we can also battle and win games that way.

Winning these home are so important if we want to compete in this league and the lads were class against a side with a lot of individual quality. The result proves were good enough to go up against anyone in the league. Hopefully we can take this performance into the festive period and then finish the season strong
