Return to Ruthin…

We travel to Maes Tegid this Saturday for this weekends tie vs Ruthin Town which will have a big say the race to stay above the dotted line.
As most will know, Ben and I was at Ruthin last season have a lot of affection for the Football Club. It is a brilliant club and have a lot of respect for Dave and the committee. I really hope they stay above the dotted line and that they win every game after they play us.
We will go to Ruthin with a lot of confidence after a really good performance and result against Flint Mountain. We fully deserved the point in the game and was pleasing to see Callum H (Hodgey) come off the bench for his debut to get an assist for Collo's equaliser. I also thought it was Henry, Chris Hibbert and Dylans best game in black and white and hope this continues. I was really pleased that I didn't have to come out and say, 'we played well but got nothing out of the game', again and scoring in the last minute always makes it that little bit sweeter.
In football, sometimes just taking a point from a game and stopping the rut of defeats can be the spark that you need to pick up points and I hope this is the case for us. In a funny way, I hope one game we play really badly and get a win like other teams have done against us.
The reserves didn't play last weekend but well done to the U17s who got an impressive 3-2 win over Rhostyllen U19 in the NEWFA U19 Cup. Ethan Davies scoring 2 and Harry Roberts with the other. Both players have played for the 1st team and it was really pleasing to see these players scoring regularly. Harry came on for the 1st team for the last 5 minutes against Flint Mountain and contributed towards the goal. Since I have taken charge I have made a big effort to give chances in training and in the squad to young players have done well for their sides. Both management staffs in Reserves and U17s have done a brilliant job with their squads this season and long may this continue.
We hope to see a good number of Welly fans at Maes Tegid on Saturday. Up the Welly!
